Our studio brings together our collective skills and interests to undertake projects at a variety of scales and in a variety of ways. These can be self-initiated, collaborative or client-led and encompass:
- Designing buildings: from concept through to completion
- Urban design and planning
- Advisory and enabling roles
- Research, teaching and writing
We combine a strategic understanding of social and political context with a sophisticated sense of design and construction. Our design ethos emphasises creating joy as well as functionality; quality of detail and materials; adaptability and sustainability.
We bring imagination, curiosity and passion to our projects, alongside excellent project management. We have a strong belief in the social and civic role of architecture, and embrace work with communities of all kinds.
"HAT Projects have delivered a great addition to our growing collection of bespoke buildings in support of the creative and cultural sector. This is almost entirely down to HAT's attention to detail, clever use of materials and unwavering commitment to quality."
Matthew Essex, client lead, High House Artists' Studios.
"...this focus on material detail elevates the project beyond its price tag and shows what value small, obsessive practices can bring."
Oliver Wainwright on the Jerwood Gallery, Building Design, March 2012.
