We were commissioned to develop the concept and scheme design up to planning, for the new National College for Creative and Cultural Skills at High House Production Park, Purfleet. The £6.1m project will create new residential facilities for students, alongside space for cultural businesses and a new social hub for the Park.
We undertook an intensive period of collaborative design with the client, and pre-planning consultation, to support the successful bid to the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and developed an elegantly rational scheme that used the gradient across the site to create different levels of social activity relating to the south-facing gardens, and the central square of the Park. A restrained brick architecture sits comfortably with both the historic farm buildings to the south-east, and the raw industrial character of the rest of the Production Park's buildings.
