Silver End

We were commissioned to create a temporary installation for Silver End Village Hall as part of the Radical Essex Architecture Weekend, curated by Focal Point Gallery. One of the pioneering sites for British Modernism, Silver End is a unique model village created by the Crittall family, of metal windows fame. We created a celebratory entrance installation that is influenced by modernist sculpture and graphic design, and experiments with lightweight engineering and large spans to create a big visual impact through an economy of means.

We were delighted to work with our regular collaborators Momentum Engineering and our great local metal fabricators Wesbroom, who took time out of their regular work making trailers and fencing to meet our unusual demands.

In celebrating the unique history and legacy of Essex architecture, HAT Projects were an obvious choice. Their thoughtful commission beautifully referenced Crittall’s graphic design, creating a bold centre piece for ESSEX Architecture Weekend in Silver End.
