Our project at St Nicholas Square in central Colchester has started on site! City centre neighbours will know it has been a long process to get to this point…so we are very excited to see the work progress.

The revamped square is scheduled to be completed in late 2024, and create space for seating, markets and events, with new trees (in big new tree pits using the Stockholm system for the first time in Colchester – see photo!). The headstones from the former churchyard will be re-used as part of new benches.

Brooks and Wood are the contractor and the design team includes Ingleton Wood, Ringway Jacobs, Paige Solutions, Hayden’s Arboricultural Consultants, Daniel Connal Partnership.
