Working with local childrens charity Inclusion Ventures, we have helped to define and refine a space brief and requirements for the conversion of a former amusement arcade on the High Street in Jaywick into a new youth centre, developing a design approach that will transform the building into a vibrant and accessible space for a wide range of youth and community activities, as well as offices for the charity to work from.
The project presents an immensely exciting opportunity to transform one of the most prominent sites in Jaywick into a buzzing community hub. With great street presence and a wide area of pavement within the site boundaries, the activity can spill out into the street and animate the public realm. Inside a series of multi-functional spaces can accomodate Inclusion Ventures key activities, including a community cafe and training kitchen, activity space for physical games, dance and recreation, training room and therapy/music editing suite.
Our early stage feasibility work has been used to support funding applications, including a Big Lottery Fund bid. The project has recently been submitted to Planning.
